Since 2002, many hundreds of concerts and festival appearances in France and throughout Europe, have established La Caravane Passe as a musical phenomenon. The music of this quintet, both festive and creative, leaves nobody indifferent; it's an irresistible invitation to dance. One of the band's goals is to actually re-establish music as a means to unite people. In an age where most music seems to encourage dancing by oneself, La Caravane Passe favours dancing together, preferably in a crowd.
Audiences and media have picked this up and thus the band has built a reputation for itself as stage animals: wherever they have performed, La Caravane Passe has garnered much awareness by word of mouth. And although their musical language and their melodies are undoubtedly steeped in Gipsy tradition, the band's spirit and attitude are definitely very much rock and roll.
La Caravane Passe lives in its own universe: they have created a nomad village they call Plechti, with its own truly cosmopolitan language, Plechtian, containing elements from French, Serbian, Spanish, Yiddish, English and many more.
After the self-produced debut album, La Caravane Passe has continued to develop and refine its compositions in front of audiences before returning to the studio in 2007 to record Velkom Plechti!. The musicians have really accomplished a unique musical production. They surrounded themselves with a versatile palette of musical guests, from all corners of the world and from all musical horizons in order to transfer their musical intentions to tape in the best way possible.
